Palmetto Parkway - Finishing the job in Aiken County

The Need

The completion of I-520, Palmetto Parkway, Phase II is needed to accommodate the current increasing traffic volume, and the growth in traffic volume that is projected in the future.

In 2003, 21,500 vehicles per day traveled this segment of highway. That figure more than doubled in 2005 with approximately 51,600 vehicles per day. I-520, Palmetto Parkway, Phase II will provide a 4-lane roadway with full controlled access from US 1 to I-20, a distance of approximately 6.5 miles to alleviate current and future traffic congestion.

By the interstate facility motorists can operate more safely and efficiently, thereby reducing delays. It also serves commuters traveling to and from origins and destinations in South Carolina and Georgia.
